FLORAL TABLESCAPE

Recently, Zulily Bargains offered some April Cornell tablecloths, and I ordered three of them (they were really good prices, but I can’t remember how much). The one I used on the table this weekend looks  like two different cloths have been combined.  The top of the cloth is green and navy stripes.

The border of the cloth is a busy floral.

I realize that it is not necessary to use every color in the cloth on the table top.  I never start out doing that, but somehow I usually end up with almost all of the cloth colors on top of the table.

White chargers:  Lace by Kennex- purchased at J.C. Penney on line four years ago; topped by blue glass chargers purchased at a Kitchen Outlet years ago; topped by Royal Doulton dinner plates (no pattern name)-purchased at an estate sale a few years ago; topped by clear glass salad plates that belonged to my Mother; topped by green depression glass bowls.

I used a green and navy runner on top of the cloth (purchased on sale at Pier One years ago), so I wouldn’t have to iron out the folds in the cloth for added interest.

I’ve used these stems in a blog post before.  I ordered them through One Kings Lane Bargains, and each stem, in sets of four, was a different color.  I ordered two sets.

The green stems were our “every day” selection when we married.  I marched the juice stems down the center of the table, and I practically floated a rose in each stem, because the stems on my rose bush are so short so the flower could be seen from both sides of the table.

Springtime Tablescape

My tablescape today is for dinner with the “girls”.  Don’t you think it’s funny that I still call myself and my friends “the girls”?  In my mind, we will always be girls.  (Please excuse my photography.  It is so difficult to take photos in my sunroom with so much sunlight coming through the windows.)

I used Towle Old Master silverware pattern, which was our wedding pattern, because it has a floral decoration on it.

I bought these knives at a tag sale years ago.  I really love them, but they drive me crazy.  I know the blade is supposed to face the plate, but the other side of the knife blade is engraved.

You can see why I placed the knives incorrectly, right?

The “napkin ring” is a bookmark, which guests may take home.

S-h-h-h-h, Don’t tell my guests that I bought the bookmarks for 75% off at a going out of business sale.

When I’ve used these etched stems in the past, a commenter told me the name of the pattern, but I’ve forgotten.  I wish I had time to go back into my archives and find it.  The pink stem is plastic (isn’t that fancy?).

The salt cellars belonged to my grandmother.

I purchased two matching bowls at a tag sale.  They are “Made in Japan, Warren”.

When a good friend of my Mother’s died, her family asked me to pick something from her estate as a remembrance.  Are you surprised I chose a plate?  I’m so glad that blogging has introduced me to so many other dish lovers.  I don’t feel so alone any more!  The unmarked plate is topped with a Pier One petal bowl for salad dressing.
