THANKSGIVING~LIFE MIMICS ART

During the Halloween season, this table was a “fortune teller’s” table.  You can see that post here.  The fortune teller has been banished and cornucopias have appeared for the Thanksgiving season.

I can’t take credit for the creation of this needlepoint.  I bought it at an estate sale some time ago. 

Can you tell I attempted to mimic the needlepoint with the cornucopia on the table?

Are you laughing at my attempt to create the look of a grapevine on my lamp?

HALLOWEEN PIANO TOP

For the piano table top linkup at A Stroll Thru Life, I am sharing the Halloween street on top of the piano in my “wanna be” craft room.

Since this is a wanna be craft room of a wanna be crafter, I thought I had to “craft” a jack-o-lantern in this room, so here it is!

I know you must be impressed with my craftiness.  Without ever getting up from my desk, I pinned buttons and yarn to my ball of twine.

MORE AUTUMN

Fall has arrived on the buffet behind my sofa.

All of my little pumpkin paintings were created by Karen Harvey Cox at A Scrapbook of Inspiration.

Since this is visible from both sides, it’s nice to be able to put a second picture on the other side of the hinged yard stick.

My lonely velvet pumpkin was made by my friend, Susie.  She has told me that I will get another one this year.  Maybe if I print her promise on my blog, she’ll have to give me another one.  (Are you reading this, Susie?)

I know I already showed you my hutch, decorated for Fall.  I’m old, but I’m not so old that I don’t remember I showed it on my last post, but I got carried away, and now it’s exploding with Fall and Halloween, so I’m sharing it again.

I realize it is really the first day of fall, but it seems like I've already had my fall decor out FOR-EV-ER! IS IT FALL YET?

If you saw my Fall blog header when you clicked on this blog, you've already seen most of the Fall decorating that I have done. Kathleen at Cuisine Kathleen once said in a comment on my blog that I am a party animal. She's so right. I just can't resist a Blogville party! (For one thing, other Blogvillians come up with such fabulous ideas for posts, and I'm always desperately seeking post ideas. I'm so grateful that smart Blogvillians let me share in their posting ideas!) I am joining the Celebrate the Holidays party at It's So Very Cheri. I've just met Cheri, but she is kind enough to let me come to the party even though we just met. Nothing like a party to bring friends out of the woodwork! Thank you so much Cheri.

I've decided that having a blog is sort of like being in the retail business. Blogvillians get ready for the holidays long before most people. I'm always running behind, but when I started seeing all of the pretty Fall colors on other blogs, I wanted to rush to get out some of my Fall decor.

You didn't think you were going to leave my blog without having to see at least one mosaic, did you?

MY FIRST (and possibly my last) BLOG

MY FAMILY ROOM MANTEL IS DECORATED FOR FALL

(OR WOULD YOU SAY "OVER-DECORATED"?)

Those who already know me are aware that I have to feel that I'm getting a bargain before I'll buy anything, and I'm beginning to think that there are many of you out there who have the same philosophy. Also, those who already know me are painfully aware that I love to write "books" when I'm emailing someone or leaving a comment on another poor blogger's space. (I don't know why, as my son says, I over-share, or why I think anything I say is interesting enough to write a book to anybody. When I read back through what I've written, I usually say to myself [no, not out loud] "self, that wasn't interesting or important at all"! Of course, by that time, I've already clicked the "send" button.) For that reason, I have hope that posting on this blog will be enough writing to keep me from leaving boring "books" on other's spaces. This blog is really an experiment. I'm not sure that I'll be able to do it. So, I'll make a deal with you. If you find this blog, if you won't tell anybody about it, neither will I. I want to get this figured out before the crowds start pouring in! LOL.

Before I go any further, I think I should tell you that I have an illness, and I do not want to be cured (although many others seem to want me cured). I am a.... (long pause).... "collector" (s-h-h-h-h-h; I know some think that's a dirty word, but believe me, once you get the collecting bug, it's not so easy to get rid of it). It's that dreaded disease for which there is not a 12 step program, at least that I know of (of course, that may be because I haven't looked for one).

I've been doing some Fall and Halloween decorating. After the 31st of October, all jack-o-lanterns, ghosts, goblins and other things Halloween will be put into my closet, and the Pilgrims, Indians, and cornucopias will replace them. Yes, I know, my disease is rearing its ugly head. Now, if you have happened into my blog, and you are in the psychiatric field, maybe you will volunteer your services to attempt to cure this addiction of mine! You really may take pity on me if you view pictures of my home. Or perhaps, you'll take pity on my poor, dear, "neat freak" husband, who has to live in the midst of this disease.

HOLIDAY DECOR JUST GETS ADDED TO COLLECTIONS ALREADY IN PLACE! Scary, huh?
