Are y’all decorating for the Dutch holiday? My mantle has had some kind of holiday decor on it since October, and now I can’t remember what I had on it before then. Since then it has had Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, and Easter decor! I’m kidding about the Dutch holiday – I don’t know why I’ve always been attracted to Dutch people and windmills. I just find them so charming – I wouldn’t want to have to wear those wooden shoes though – Ouch!
Maybe it all started with this pitcher, and sugar and creamer that belonged to Mother.
But then, years ago, I spotted this pitcher at an estate sale. I couldn’t resist the Dutch children on it, so it came home with me. I know I should have tulips in the pitchers, but my tulips have already passed their prime, so I had to settle for some Azalea blooms.
I’m still looking for my clear plate stand to put this painted glass on. Until I locate it (which may be years), the stand will show through the glass. Ooops!
My yellow tea roses are blooming profusely. I just love these dainty roses.
The illustrations in this 1945 book entitled Hans Brinker or The Silver Skates also appeal to me.
I’m linking to A Stroll Thru Life for Table Top Tuesday. Be sure to go get links for other table tops in Blogville. Let’s go see if anybody else is celebrating Dutch Day on their table tops. Thank you so much for coming to see my mantle yet again, and have a happy Dutch Day (you know I’m kidding-I don’t want to get Hallmark all in a twit about making Dutch Day cards, because you know my blog has that much influence!) laurie
