THRIFTIN’, VISITIN’ ‘N GIFTIN’

fav_thngs_cmbnd_thumb[1][1]

I had a hard time posting favorites this week, because I’ve had a tough week. My beloved dog, Elsie, an English Setter, was hit by a car Tuesday evening. It was touch-and-go for a couple of days, but the vet told me Thursday that she is “out of the woods", and that she may be able to come home early next week. I haven’t slept well, and I haven’t been able to concentrate on much other than my “baby”. But today, I can breath again (and even focus on something~well, I can focus as much as I’m ever able to focus!)

A couple of weeks ago, I went on a road trip ~ just me and Tom (if you didn’t read about Tom in a previous post, he is my new love ~ a navigation gadget that has given me the freedom of the roads! I am navigationally challenged in a big way!) I went to visit my friend, Susie, and I had SO MUCH FUN visiting and shopping with her.

One of this week’s favorites is this sweet little tureen that Susie showed me when we were scouring a flea market. Susie is such an enabler. She knew if I saw him, he’d come home with me.

Just look at this sweet face.

Another of this week’s favorites is my Quimper egg cup basket that I ordered from Brittany Byways. It’s old and chippy ~ probably not in good enough shape to actually use to serve eggs, but it works great for displaying faux Easter eggs.

bskt

The idea was to be able to carry the basket to the table; then remove each individual egg cup to serve the eggs.

Another Easter favorite is this White House Easter egg that I bought at an Estate sale back in the Fall. I think I paid $2.00 for it, which was a pricey egg for me, but I don’t think I’ll ever make it to the White House Egg Roll, and this way I can pretend that I found this on the White House lawn.

My Easter plate, which was a gift from Susie, is another favorite.

Another gift from Susie is this adorable Easter banner. I know when I’m going to visit someone, I should take a hostess gift, and I do, but I can’t compete with Susie, because  guests get showered with fabulous gifts when they visit her!

The bunny in a cart was a purchase at a “going out of business” sale at a gift store several years ago.

When I posted my St. Patrick’s table, several of you asked about the “grass” I used on the table (which is what I’ve also used in these Easter vignettes). I ordered these tissue paper grass mats from D. Blümchen & Company.  This is the way it looks when it arrives

After spreading it out, it can be cut to fit whatever space you desire.

Oh, Laurie, I'm so sorry to hear about your dear doggy but so thankful to know he's going to get better. My heart aches for you because I know how much we can love our animals.
Now look at that lamb tureen! I love it! how adorable. Your Quimper egg server is amazing. I'm sure Debbie will sneak into your house late one night and take it! :)
I'm having a cupboard linky party next Tuesday. If you could come I would love it.

Prayers for sweet Elsie and may she continue to make a full recovery. And prayers for you to sleep a bit better as well. I know how stressful those worries can be.

You have really put me into an Easter mood. I am going to have to bring out more bunnies and maybe some colorful eggs.

Oh, I hope Elsie fully recovers. Glad she is out of the woods.
The lamb tureen is too precious. Good for Susie! This sweet little lamb did need to go home with you. All your Easter pieces are inspiring me to get busy and pull my things out. Always running behind here. LOL
Good use of the Q egg basket. ;-)

Oh Laurie, my heart goes out to you regarding your precious furbaby! I would not have been able to sleep as well. A long time ago when my furry best friend had to have surgery, I in all sincerity, asked the vet if I could put a cot and stay the night with her. I said I would be able to keep all the other scared critters company as well.
Okay, enough of that. Oh,Ii would have so tripped over my feet racing to get that little lamb tureen! That is just the sweetest thing ever! And your Quimper egg cup carrier is a fantastic find. All of your Easter things are so precious. And that grass is totally cool!
Thank you so much for joining me for my very first TTF party! I was so worried no one would show up! LOL

I'm so glad to read that your pup is out of the woods. When I began reading, I was afraid you were going to say the opposite.

I love all your treasures, (and I do remember your post about Tom)
My favorite is that lamb tureen. How wonderful, just wonderful would that be for Easter?

I am currently working on a table scape that just begs for some of that grass. Too bad I found out too late.

I need to look for it anyway.

Looks like you found your MO! How 'bout sending JO back to Georgia?

I'm so happy to hear you baby is doing better. I have two furry babies and I know if anything happened to them that I would be completely off balance. Hopefully she'll be home by your side very soon.

I see you're out of your slump! What amazing Easter decorations. Each is so unique and different. That lamb tureen would get to me as well.

Thank you for the tip on the grass. I think I need to get some of that. I dislike the clear plastice stuff.

Yes Laurie like everyone else I am so happy your baby can recover . My Sissy has cancer and not much to do for her since it is all over her body. I have quit crying so much in front of her i can tell it is upsetting her more.

Anyway My Tom doesn't help me as much as yours so may need a new Tom in my life.

I love all your beautiful Easter things and that white house easter egg is wonderful.Don't you wonder who got it maybe from the White House lawn?
